Youth Ministry

The Youth Ministry at New Gresham United Methodist Church encourages young people to serve the Lord, and to share the word of God with other youth and their families. One of the ways we accomplish this goal is by having youth Fridays, on the first and third Friday of each month from 4pm – 6pm. During our “Rap Sessions” the youth have open discussions where they get to talk about their problems. Every fifth Sunday, services are led by members of both the Youth and Children's Ministries. Starting promptly at 11am, the youth conduct the entire worship service experience. It all starts when the young ushers greet you and show you to your seat. Next you see them process in and enter the pulpit to conduct morning worship. Whether it be prayer, scripture reading, singing, praise dancing, or delivering the message that morning, our youth are excited about serving God!
The Youth Ministry also participates in outreach activities, by going out into the community to spread the Gospel of Christ. We also offer basketball, which helps us to keep our young men safe, and off of the streets. Another program we offer is praise dancing. Our praise dancers most recently performed during the 2013 Good Friday service. Prior to that they performed for our last Christmas service, which was led by both our Youth and Children’s Ministries. The group also performed for our 2012 Women’s Day service, in which they played a major role in honoring the senior women of our congregation. These are just a few ways the Lord is using New Gresham and it’s Youth Ministry, to reach out to the youth and their parents. By doing this, we are all able to work together to spread the love and gospel of Christ. In the near future, the Co-Chairs of the ministry, hope to develop programs that better reflect the needs, interests, and energy of our youth.
We exist to help equip our youth with the proper skills to help develop a deeper relationship with Christ.
